Band member's age ran from
14 to 18. We played local schools, the Hullabloo in
Manville, New Jersey and were a regular at the
South Plainfield, New Jeresey PAL. We played mostly
at local schools and fraternity houses at Rutgers
College, New Jersey. In fact, while we were playing
at one of the frat houses another group was playing
down the street at "The Ledge", Rutgers recreation
hall. The name of the group was "The Looking
Glass". This was before they became famous with
"Brandy".
We also played a few times
at "The Hullabaloo" in Manville, New Jersey and
other band battles (see enclosed advertising bill).
Also played at Farleigh Dickinson College (New
Jersey) with "the Duprees", the cave in New Jersey
with Cab Calloway and Jackie Vernon, and Piscataway
High School (New Jersey) with "The Parliaments"
(George Clinton's group of "I Just Want To Testify"
fame). During out time there was another garage
band called "The Doughboys" from Plainfield, New
Jersey. They were our idols, and they were Awesome.
The lead singer, Myke Scavone, went on with Ram Jam
to record "Black Betty". The drummer,
Richard
X. Heyman
recorded about nine albums on his own and has his
own web site.
One fact that I'd like to
point out is about the Music of Jimi Hendrix. Bob's
brother was serving in the military stationed in
Germany. When he returned to the states he brought
with him a Jimi Hendrix album and introduced us to
it. At that time Jimi Hendrix wasn't very well
known in the USA. We started to add some of his
songs to our song list and became one of the first
bands, besides the Doughboys, to perform his
music.
Our last gig was at the
Cave in New Jersey on December 31, 1968. After that
I got drafted, Ed, Laszlo and Tommy went to college
and Bob graduated high school and got
married.
An unfortunate thing
happened to Tommy in his early 20's. After
graduating college with a degree in philosophy, he
was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. This disease
hit him real hard and he has been bedridden ever
since. He currently lives with his mother in New
Jersey.

Comments:
Four of us (minus
Tommy) got together socially on Saturday night
(7/10/04). This was the first time we got together
at one time in 36 years. We did a lot of
reminiscing, sharing stories and photos. The next
step is to get together for a jam session. I'll
keep my fingers crossed.
The band would like to
thank Charlie Reti for his support and handyman
skills. He was truly the backbone of the band. He
will be dearly missed.
