Thanks to
Beatlemania and a shared love for "Louie
Louie", Bob and Phil decided to start a
band. Bob brought Bill K. in, and Bill
brought Gary in. Gary was a
country-schooled player, with a unique,
finger-picking style that he learned on
the 5-string banjo. We started out playing
at friends' parties, then did a "showcase"
gig in Ypsi for the Key Booking Agency.
The agency signed us, and we started doing
frat gigs at U of M. By the time we were
in the 10th grade, we were probably the
most popular frat-party band in Ann Arbor
(for what that's worth). We really liked
to play at "the Rec" in Wayne, 'cause we
were really popular in our hometown, and
it made us feel like stars. We broke up in
1968. Phil, Bob, and guitarist Steve
Phillips started a power trio called Fogg.
Fogg was good, and started to get popular,
but then Steve got drafted. Phil Mcdonald
auditioned for Mitch Ryder's new group,
got hired, and dropped out of high school
to go on the road with Mitch. Personnel: Influences: Equipment:
