The Village Beaus
Allen Park, Michigan

1965-1966

This group was one of the first bands to bring awareness to the changing times of the sixties. In the summer of 1965 members Mark Klee, Bob Scheel, Dave Varady and close friend Phil Serpetti approached Michael Galvan to join the group. The combination of personalities and abilities were driven by the renegade character of the individuals. The group members, each with his own sense of individuality, collectively created an English sound and visual presentation. Other area groups included the Satellites, Mastertones, Unrelated Segments, Kleiggs and Tim Tam and the Turn-Ons.

Where are they now?

Mark Klee moved to Colorado where he designs city water management systems. Galvan pursued music via various venues and as a backup sesion guitarist. He played in the Michigan/Ohio/Canada area for years under the name Jami Stone. Today, he is a corporate marketing professional. Varady spent time in the hair styling and fashion industry. Scheel's whereabouts are unknown.

Update February 2004

A reunion of 1960s -70s legendary Allen Park musicians occured Friday February 13, 2004.
Guitarist Michael Galvan ('67) rejoined former Allen Park Village Beaus bandmate drummer Dave Varady ('66), bassist & lead singer for the Mastertones Mark Pawelski ('67),
Sancho Panza lead guitarist Terry Sullivan and well known Allen Park vocalist John Ganos (Underground Wall & Springwell). The Wilddogs, Terrys' group (Varady, Ganos and Pawelski), were appearing at the Allen Park Knights of Columbus. Terry and the group invited Michael to perform the final set of the evening with them. Set list included tunes by the Kinks, Stones, Beatles, Buddy Guy, Hendrix and a variety of Blues tunes. The 3rd set had the house rocking! "We been around and we still cool!"
