Tom Thumb originally formed 1972 as a road band, but spent most of 1973 playing at the Pioneer Club in Pulaski, Tn, after leaving there, the band went on the road, touring the eastern seaboard from Florida to Virginia, the southeast, and the midwest. The band cut some original demos at Muscle Sound Studios in Muscle Shoals, Al, before finally breaking up in 1975.

Equipment:
4 Altec A-7 cabinets with Cerwin Vega Drivers, Sun power amps and a Sun Colliseum board, two Marshall stacks, Les Paul guitars, Hammond CV organ with leslie powered by Ampeg V2 amp and an Electrovoice siren driver on the leslie horn. Ampeg bass amp and folded horn bass cabinet.

Rehearsal Space:
An old smokehouse in Five Point, Tn, and Bubba's basement.

Band Vehicles:
A White cattle truck with an 8'x20' bed that we converted to equipment space and sleeping quarters.

Fashion Statement:
Blue jeans and whatever.

Best Gig:
Dobby's Pizza Parlor, Jacksonville, NC Those folks knew how to party! Everyone who worked there loved us and the girls were fine!

Gig from Hell!:
We never had any really bad gigs.

Last Gig:
Yankee Clippper, Rock Island, Il

Comments:
We did some booking with Tony Moon productions in Nashville and later booked through the Von Zealand agency in Wisconsin. I was the sound man for the band from 1973 - 1975.

 

  

 

Where are they now?
Winter, 2003

Bubba suffered a stroke and died in 2001, Billy was doing civil war re-enactments last we heard, Jim is living in middle Tn, Danny is also living in middle Tn, and still sings with bands in the area, Thom moved back up north somewhere.
