Tim Tam & The Turn-Ons
Allen Park, Michigan
1964-1967

All met at Allen Park High School, and we were all in the concert choir at one time . Danny and the others used to rehearse in Danny's basement, where brother Rick (Tim Tam) heard them, joined in and wrote their big hit for them, "Wait A Minute". They sold 30,000 copies of the single the first month after its release. Rick taught us all of our parts and put all of us on the Charts. Rick was everything; without him there would have never been a Tim Tam and the Turn-ons. Rick Wiesend and Tom DeAngelo wrote all the material. Fellow classmates from Allen Park High, "The Sattelights" became their backup band.

Editor's Note Oct. 25th, 2003:
It was announced in the paper today that Rick Wiesend, lead singer of Tim Tam and the Turn-Ons passed away this week after a brief illness at the age of 60. Our condolences to the Wiesend family and Rick's friends. Their recording "Wait A Minute" was a prime example of one of the best rock & roll songs to come from the Detroit area back in the 60's. Also mentioned in the article about Rick this weekend was the fact that when they got to the studio to cut "Wait A Minute", another act was still finishing up their session. They kindly agreed to wait till they were done... the artist: Bob Seger, the song: Heavy Music. Two number one songs recorded at the same studio on the same day...now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout!
