The Sonics Raymond, Washington 1961-1964   The Turner Boys and Dan Swanson were music majors at W WA State College in Bellingham. Roger Dalbeck was cashier at Food Liner in town. Donnie Mee was sophomore in high school during the winter months. The Turners were substituted with Ric Kindle, Gid White, Jerry May and Steve Rogers to form the 'winter version'.   Personnel: Jill Monson - Vocals Wynn Turner - Sax Rex Turner - Lead Guitar Donn Mee - Bass and Rythm Guitar Danny Swanson - Piano Uncle Rog Dalbeck - Drums Influences: Wailers, Elvis, Northwest Rockers Setlist Sample: Hold It, Mother in Law, What'd I Say, the Whip, Louie Louie, Let's Go Equipment: Hiback Piano, Supro and Silvertone Guitars, yada yada amps, one 18" horn and Bogen DB15 amp (stolen from Raymond HiSchool) for PA. Rehearsal Space: Great Band room furnished by the Turner Family on the South Fork of the Willapa River!! Band Vehicles: 1951 Chevy (Fordor SnowWhite) and 1954 Ford (Purple People Eater). Fashion Statement: Always white shirts, string ties and black cardigans or maroon blazers, and pegged pants of course. Best Gig: May 1961 South Bend Chamber: First Live Rock Show in Northern Pacific County EVER!! We made $6.10 each!! Gig from Hell!: Shelton Eagles Hall late summer 1961. NOBODY SHOWED!! Last Gig: Too long ago to remember. Wynne passed on at an early age and we called it quits. Comments: Glad to be a part of your 'memory bank' here at My First Band.         Where are they now? Winter, 2005 Wynn Turner passed away in the early 70's from a brain hemmorage. Rex Turner lives and writes in Indiana where his wife teaches at Ball State University. Dan Swanson graduated from W Washington U... whereabouts unknown. Roger Dalbeck became distributor for Chevron in Wenatchee Washington.
