We were all in high
school when the Beatles hit. WOW! We had to play.
So we bought our stuff and opened Franks garage
door. You know what? People started to come off the
street to hear us. We learned a couple of songs and
then a couple more and before you know it we wanted
to play a gig. We played, at first for free, then
we started to get paid gigs. You know, sweet
sixteens, birthdays, dances in the Y's basement. We
hooked up with Mel Schwartz, the writer of Jan and
Deans hit Baby Talk. He got us to audition at the
Cafe Wha? where we played for a while. We were on
right before the hypnotist who made people act like
chickens and monkeys. We actually were on the same
stage as Jimi Hendrix, just a year or so later. We
went on to record several songs for Mel, who was
trying to recapture his musical career. Preston
wrote the B sides, but, none of these recordings
went anywhere, in fact they went "Nowhere Fast" the
titile of one of the songs. The band broke up after
a blowup between Preston and Moose. Preston
couldn't stand that Moose kept playing a major bass
line over a minor key song. Preston started in a
new band, The Eastern Gift, soon to be included in
this forum. Personnel: Influences: Setlist
