Pur Swa Ders
Blackwood, New Jersey

1966-1971

The band formed in 1966...we had all known each other in some way. Ralph and Jim played Little League Baseball on the same team as pitcher and catcher. Joe and Pat played in another band together and Ron was the only member at the time that was married. We signed a record contract with MICA Records and put out a couple 45's. We landed the gig to travel with the Auto Show for about three years and it was a great experience; we got to see a lot of the country and also got to play some large concert halls like the N.Y. Coliseum. We won the 1967 battle of the bands for the state of New Jersey and competed in the nationals outside of Boston...we wound up coming in 6th in the country. One of the judges was the great guitarist Les Paul. Mr. Paul liked the band and brought us to his studio in upstate New Jersey to make a demo. After all was said and done we had a recording contract with Mercury Records. At this time we had changed some members of the band and the record company wanted a fresh start and a new name so we were given the name The Strimbling Blimbles and had an east coast hit called Perfect Dream and Holding My Eyes Down.
