Danny Hernandez & The Ones
Lansing, Michigan

1967-1975

Danny Hernandez - world class player, friend, brother, father, idol. Tommy - great on his axe, Erni - the best of his time. Ron Hernandez - skinny kid...always on. Jim Pitchford -big organs were his passion. Ron Michler - solid player and a great friend. Gary Melvin - quiet, what a great player.
We were all great friends but time and circumstance have played their hand in our lives. We made great music together and shared the same dreams. Although we did have our share of fights it never affected our shows. We played from beyond understanding giving our heart and soul for one song. When we were young there was no perception of time, it just seemed like we were made to be part of it all. Danny was not only my band mate but he was also my uncle and friend. At times it was trying because we were so similar. But I learned so much from the years that we played together. He is truly missed!

Comments from Tom Taylor (6/21/03):
Hi, I'm Tommie the guitar player for the Ones. I loved the article about us, and it brings back great memories. I'm still playing and doing acoustic things now, but I still have the urge to crank it to 10 and loose my mind! Danny, Ronnie and all the guys are my brothers and I love them very much. I miss Danny, he was my best friend, we traveled a lot of roads together, and kicked a lot of crowds. When I heard he passed away, I was devistated, and still am. When I play, I look next to me and I still see him standing there. when I play I play for him, and all the memories. The Ones will always be a part of me, and I thank God I had the chance to know and play with some of the greatest musicians of our time. Thanks Danny, we will jam again someday, and I know we will kill 'em like we always did!
