The Majestics
Nashville, Tennessee

1965-1966

Personnel:
Alan Gregory - Lead Guitar, Lead Vocals
Larry Reid - Bass Guitar, Backup Vocals
Eddie Lunn - Rhythm Guitar, Backup Vocals
Sandy Latimer - Drums

Influences:
Alan Gregory had that whole blue-eyed soul thing going for him and although we did some pop stuff we covered Motown, Chess records, etc.

Setlist Sample:
What's Your Name?, Watermelon Man, Louie Louie, Sleepwalk, Fever, It's A Man's World.

Equipment:
I (Larry Reid) played a Framus electric bass through a homemade cabinet with two 12" Jensen speakers and a Gregory amp head. Alan had a Gibson 335 ( brown sunburst) through a Gibson with one 12" speaker. Eddie played a Gibson SG through a Silvertone amp with two 12' speakers. Can't remember what kind of drums Sandy played. We ran our mikes through the second channel on the amps. Pretty bad sound compared to the Classic Rock band I'm in right now.

Rehearsal Space:
We mostly rehearsed in Eddie Lunn's upstairs playroom. His parents had a huge house in the best part of town and we wallowed in that.

Band Vehicles:
We could get everything but Sandy's drums in the trunk of my Dad's 1959 Cadillac DeVille.

Fashion Statement:
We wore coats and ties. We all got red sports coats because no one wanted them and they were on sale. During a break at a performance someone came up to a member of the band and asked where the restrooms were. We were a bit flustered and the guy said, "You guys are ushers, aren't you?" We burned the coats.

Best Gig:
A sorority at Western Kentucky State in 1966. The theme was "Slumber Party" and it was a night to remember!

Gig from Hell!:
We once did two gigs in one night. One was in a restaurant. It was difficult to set up and after a short set we had to tear down and head for the next performance. Can we say "labor intensive?" I knew we could...

Last Gig:
Don't remember.

Comments:
Thanks for a great website. I was in several other bands and will probably make other entries.

 Where Are they Now?
Fall, 2003

Alan Gregory owns his own glass company in Franklin, Tennessee and is independently wealthy. Larry Reid was nealy killed in Vietnam on several occasions and managed to get home alive only to endure several divorces, various business failures and admittedly some pretty cool adventures along the way. Eddie Lunn inherited his father's business and is independently wealthy. Don't know where Sandy Latimer is these days or what he's been up to.

Larry's current band Boomerang:

left to right are: Larry Reid - Lead Guitar (that's a Danelectro 12 string) and vocals, Frank Feinstein - Rhythm Guitar and Lead Male Vocals, Tommy Becker - Drums/Vocals, Mary Becker - Percussion\ Vocals, Dean Trathon - Bass Guitar, and Beverly Feinstein - Keyboards/Percussion/Vocals. We began rehearsals in the spring of this year (2003) and just started performing. Having the time of our lives.
