The Knightwalkers
Stevensville, Michigan
1964-1966

The Knightwalkers formed in 1965. Three close friends Monty Nitz (bass guitar), Dick Jankowski (lead guitar) and Jack Kennedy (rhythm guitar) were later joined by Ken Seal (lead vocals), Jim Sheffield (Drums), and Craig Zimmerman (organ). Intermittent members were Tom Anderson (vocals) and Doug Wilder (drums) and Arnold Dudley (lead guitar).

Most of the time was spent down Monty's folks basement where we aspired to sound like the regionally successful Five Emprees from neighboring Benton Harbor. Our typical setlist consisted of songs by The Beach Boys, The Kingsmen, Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Outsiders, and the Animals.

Monty was probably the most talented musician, Dick was the smartest, and Jack was the best looking. We really had promise but had real trouble getting out Monty's basement. Once Monty had designed and painted our logo on the bass drum, Dick got his classic Rickenbacher refinished, Jack acquired his Vox Phantom XII Stereo 12 string, and Ken Seal got a real Bogan PA system,we thought we were ready to go. Probably our best song was "Time Won't Let Me" by The Outsiders.

In our Junior year of high school, Jack joined the golf team, Monty started getting into sports cars, and Dick took his grade point from a 3.99 to 4.00. Jack also had to go to work at the local grocery store to pay for his Vox 12 string and didn't have the time to practice anymore.
