Grope
Glen Ellyn, Illinois

1967-1969

We were considered the "Underground Band" on the suburban high school circuit. We refused to play Louie, Louie unless we made a complete joke out of it and most of the kids hated us because they couldn't dance to our music. But the ones who understood what we were doing absolutely loved us.

Best Gig:
Glen Ellyn Youth Center- We decided to do a tribute to Bubble gum music and half the people took our parody seriously.

Gig from Hell!:
Our final gig at the Blue Village in Westmont, IL. The BIG agent was waiting to audition us and our drummers car broke down on the way. He never got to the gig and we never played together again as a band.

Last Gig:

Comments:
The late '60s Live music scene was an incredible time to be in a band. We didn't know how good we had it and had no idea how bland the scene would eventually become years later.

Where are they now?

Dean Milano, (yours truly) still plays bass in various '60s bands in the Chicago area, Pat Cannon is a screenwriter in LA, Dave Turnquist never played in a band again after our final gig, Bob Baum lives in South Dakota, Steve Zoellin is getting back into music in Florida, Rusty Ward runs a video store in a Chicago suburb, Ken Slauf still plays in bands and he and I (Milano) recently had a band called Duck Soup which actually played several of the tunes that we had played back in the '60s

Here's a current photo of Dean having his favorite lunch!
