The Fourth Street Incident
Birmingham, Michigan
1966-1969

Most of us went to St. Columban, but we caddied at Birmingham Country Club and met Joe there. In high school, we met Marc. I saw Dan many times into the late seventies, but I have not seen the others since the '71 or so.

After that band broke up, Mark Howting, Gerry Rzeppa, and I put together agrease band a la Sha Na Na, and played while in university. We called the band the Ed Sell Revue, and eventually got booked by Jerry Patlow. After college, I decided to go full time in music, and the band grew in size to ten pieces, and was renamed "GrandSlam" as our style had evolved. We worked out of Detroit and L.A., and did mostly car shows and opening act and back-up work for acts like Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, The Coasters, Freddie Cannon and so forth. We were pretty much rock with a heavy dose of R&B (that Motown influence).

Where are they now?
Spring, 2005

GrandSlam put to rest in 1980. The keyboard player (Paul Gandhi) and I put together a high tech duo called Back 2 Back, using our big sound and light set-up. That was one of the most financially successful things we did; we made band money as a duo with one roadie slash sound slash light man (Toby Barnhardt). He and I were now living in Canada as we had played Montreal and I met my bride to be. B2B continued until 1988, at which time I started doing studio work, sessions, lessons, cocktail music, etc. Efforts to locate past band members have been unsuccessful up to this point; Mark Howting, Mike Kemp and I talk every so often. Gerry, Chumley, Roger the Dodger, Paul E. Wogge, Satch, Rexy, where are you?
