EVIL
Miami, Florida
1965-1967

We began as a folky-teenage angst blend of Dylan and the Yardbirds, that lasted about a week. From there to English R&B to whatever we became. Drummer Jeff Allen made frequent trips to England, where he picked up the latest releases. Subsequently EVIL used to cover tunes by The Pretty Things, Fairies, Move, Downliner's Sect etc, before most of our counterparts had heard of them. The guy who knows all this is the drummer Jeffrey Allen, the single reason for our fame.

  Where are they now?
Still out here. John Doyle: "I really don't play anymore. But we have been known to get
together and jam. I sell antiques and very old toys."
Comments: After EVIL split, Jeff Alan, John Doyle carried on for a while under the
bizarre monicker Fruit Eating Chicken and Drek with Montells members' GeorgeWalden
and Danny Murphy. John Doyle quit shortly afterwards, being replaced by Frank Milone (who had played in a later line-up of EVIL), and they changed name again to Smack.
Jeff Allen led an EVIL reformation in 1994-95, and also played with UK combo Flea.
