The Epics were all
students at Centralia Township High School in
south-central Illinois. They began to play for fun.
Smith and Kinder had played in a surf instrumental
band, "The Continentals", with drummer Pat Parker.
Garrison had been a part of a vocal quartet. The
combination of the two evolved into the Epics of
the mid Sixties.
