The Epics
Centralia, Illinois
1965-1967
 

 The Epics were all students at Centralia Township High School in south-central Illinois. They began to play for fun. Smith and Kinder had played in a surf instrumental band, "The Continentals", with drummer Pat Parker. Garrison had been a part of a vocal quartet. The combination of the two evolved into the Epics of the mid Sixties.

Sadly, original Epics Don Griner and Don Schutte have passed away.

 

  
Where are they now?
Winter, 2005

The Epics have reformed and currently are playing throughout southern Illinois. Original Epics Mike Garrison, Steve Kinder, Fred Smith and Harold Stover have added high school classmate Bob Fester on guitar. Current equipment: Kinder (Gibson Les Paul, Crate Vintage Club 50 amp); Smith (Hondo Mustang bass, Fender Bassman 2x12 amp); Fester (Fender Strat, Tele and a Fender Bandmaster 2x12 amp); Harold Stover, (Hammond organ and Leslie tone cabinet with Fender amplification).
