The Band
Valdosta, Georgia

1966-1968

Bill Kell is from Swainsboro, GA, where his family ran the local movie theater. Like the rest of us, we met at Valdosta State College. He still is the best damn drummer in rock and roll. To wit: his current band, The Residuals, won the Fortune 500 Battle of the Bands at Cleveland, Ohio last October. They are performing there again this year (October, 2004). Andy Patterson and Ron Logan knew each other in Waycross, GA and came to Valdosta together. Ron made a career out of IT in the Army and since retiring has been playing his axe in the basement of his home in Duluth. Andy has been in social services and has been playing mandolin and bass for several notable bluegrass groups over the years. He was instrumental (neat word) in the annual Hahira (GA) Pick-In for many years. Van Brown started out in North Augusta, SC, and after college went to Vietnam as a SeaBee, then came back to VSC and took over the local newspaper. His views were not compatible with the area and times.
