Banana Cream Weather Balloon

We mostly played at teen dances in Western and Central Nebraska, southern South Dakota and Eastern Wyoming. Our "booking agent" used a photo of Big Brother and the Holding Company on our poster. Drew em in like flies.

Rehearsal Space:
Keith's basement

Band Vehicles:
"The Brown Bear", a 65 Ford Galaxy (one member was the son of a Ford dealer),48 Lincoln--when we could.

Fashion Statement:
Our "BCWB Flight Jackets"--army surplus airmen's jackets bought for $1.25 ea at an Army surplus store, worn with levis and high gear boots. Our "show costumes" were black nehru jackets, white Levis, black high gear boots.Of course medallions and love beads.

Best Gig:
Peetz Colo. at a 3.2 bar (low alcohol beer served to 18 year olds and we got served. But we were still only 16)

Gig from Hell!:
Fort Pierre SD....no one could get in tune(musically or mentally) due to being pharmaceutically

Last Gig:
Just faded away. Lowell still plays his trumpet to amuse his grandson.

Comments:
The hot spot to play was the "Pink Panther", which at the time was operated by our "booking agent". The Panther was located outside the city limits of Chadron, a small college town in western Nebraska. It was a renovated 40's supper club with a wood dance floor. There were dances every Friday and Saturday night, and booked bands from all over the midwest, including bands from Lawrence KS and Denver CO. Would like to hear from any former members of bands that had played at the Pink Panther.

 Where are they now?

Robert Holst died in 1978, Lowell is a rancher in Nebraska, Keith is a landscaper in Idaho, Monte is a rancher in Nebraska, Wad is a Ford dealer in Nebraska, Bob Powell is a retired teacher living in Montana.
