Psychedelic Psoul Pawtucket/Lincoln, Rhode Island 1966-1968   "The Runaways"-1966 which became PsyPsoul in 1967. Pictured are L-R Mike Farrell Guitar, Al Corey Guitar and Bill De Rosa on drums.   This band started in 1964 with me (Mike Farrell) and my old friend Al Corey. Al started playing guitar after his dad gave him "that old guitar and amp in the closet". The git was a perfect '53 gold top Les Paul and the amp was an old tweed Fender. Although I did take lessons, Al was instrumental (pun intended), in teaching me how to play. Bill DeRosa joined us as drummer. Harvey Miller was the next addition and we actually were a band. Next came Clayton "Farmer" Chase on bass and Fred Dame on organ. As time passed Bill DeRosa left and was replaced by Gerry (Gary) McVeigh on drums, Al Corey left and was replaced by Paul Imondi on lead guitar , Fred Dame left and was replaced by Jeff Shore (later of the Young Adults) on organ and Farmer left and was replaced by Dave Hartley.   Personnel: Harvey Miller - Lead Singer Al Corey - Lead Guitar Paul Imondi -Lead Guitar (replaced Corey) Mike Farrell - Rhythm Guitar Clayton Chase - Bass Dave Hartley - Bass(replaced Chase) Fred Dame - Keys Jeff Shore - Keys (replaced Dame) Bill DeRosa - Drums Gerry (Gary) McVeigh - Drums (replaced DeRosa) Influences: Stones, Rascals, Byrds,Beatles,Various Psychedelic "Nuggets" Setlist Sample: Route 66, Walkin' The Dog, Down The Road A Piece, My Back Pages, Mr. Tamborine Man, Midnight Hour, Etc. Equipment: Amps -Vox Super Beatle (till it smoked), Baldwin Exterminators, various Fender amps-Super reverbs,Deluxe Etc. Organs - Vox Jaguar, Continental organs. Guitars - Rickenbacker, Mostite, Gibson, Fender, Harmony. Mics - EV 665 and 666 (bang nails with 'em by day and sing through them at night!) Rehearsal Space: Mostly the basement of my parent's house (Mike Farrell). It still amazes me how they put up with it for soooo long! Band Vehicles: A great, and new at the time, 1964 Pontiac Bonneville station wagon which belonged to the Millers. Fashion Statement: Beatle boots, jeans-bells, and various "cool" shirts often bought at "Hung Up"; the "hippy - head shop" on the East side of Providence. Best Gig: A few gigs at the Galilee Beach Club in Narragansett are the most memorable. Good, loud rock and roll in an ocean front room packed with appreciative audiences. Gig from Hell!: A lunchtime gig playing for some men's club/association. They were expecting Lawrence Welk and got something a little different than they were ready for. Last Gig: Those brain cells are long gone. Comments: I stumbled upon this web site while doing a Google search for info on an antique guitar in my collection. I have really enjoyed putting all this down "on paper". The memories, and mammories associated with this period of my/our lives still mean a great deal to me and will always be fondly remembered. I hope, though doubt, you have enjoyed reading this half as much as I have writing it.      Where are they now? Summer, 2004 Harvey Miller, last I heard was working as a bartender while evading jealous husbands and boyfriends of "love interests". Mike Farrell -this author, is working as an audio engineer at Foxwoods doing concert sound for many of the infulencial acts that got us going way back when. Paul Imondi continuse to wander somewhat aimlessly yet mostly happily through life, Al Corey lives in San Diego and is in peirodic contact, Bill DeRosa is lost somewhere in Florida I think, Gerry McVeigh is still in R.I. somewhere,Dave Hartley lives with his family in Lincoln, Clayton Chase is in the Pacific northwest and returns to Lincoln now and then, Fred Dame-whereabouts unknown, Jeff Shore was last seen living in Narragansett Mike Farrell hard at work!    Information contributed by Mike Farrell mfarrell@mptn.org
