The Outcasts
Chicago, Illinois

1965-1966

We were all within a year of each other at grammar school but went to different high schools. one day Tom Lynch came to my house and said "you're my new bass player". I said what's a bass? Tom met this kid at high school who had decent equipment and started jamming with him and that was how it started.

Personnel:
Dean - Drums
Flip - Lead Vocals
Jim - Bass/Vocals
Jack - Rhythm Guitar
Jim - Rhythm Guitar
Tom - Lead Guitar

Influences:
Elvis, Beatles, Stones, Animals, Beach Boys

Setlist Sample:
Louie Louie, Twist and Shout, LaBamba, Jailhouse Rock, Satisfaction, Little Deuce Coupe

Equipment:
Vox and Fender

Rehearsal Space:
Wherever our parents weren't.

Band Vehicles:
Anything with at least three wheels on it,

Fashion Statement:
Faux leather suits with ruffled shirts and big ornate cuff links. the label on the suits said "do not wash, dry clean, or moisten". My grandmother pointed that out after we bought em. After a couple of gigs the suits smelled worse than our music.

Best Gig:
Opened a 24 hour basketball game for charity at Depaul Univ. We got a quick shot on TV.

Gig from Hell!:
We got the crap beat out of us by a gang from the north side when we won the battle of the bands. They took out our lead guitar player in the john and I jumped in and got knocked out. Our drummer's father broke it up.

Last Gig:
Can't remember.

Comments:
We had more fun than anything. WLS radio had a one hour program every Sunday night that featured local talent and the one record we made went number 1 on that show. we were like the Beatles for a week in the old neighborhood.

Where are they now?

5 out of 6 of us either got drafted or enlisted. Tom committed suicide. I went to live in Florida after the army and lost touch with everyone.
