The Mad Lads Morehead, Kentucky 1960-1963   We were a group of guys going to college that liked to play music. Tom Haas was from the Cincinnatti area and got us a few gigs up there. We played a few high school proms in the Kentucky area...North Middletown, Sharpsburg...Hazard...Ft. Thomas Highlands. We also played a few roof-top fraternity parties on the U.K. campus.   Personnel: Butch Richardson - Keys Tom Haas - Bass Kenny Bechloff - Sax Allan Gordon - Guitar Steve Kvichak - Drums Influences: None listed. Setlist Sample: Harlem Nocturn, The Twist, You Make Me Wanna Shout, Night Train Equipment: Fender Strat, Gibson Byrdland, Conn, Lowrey organ, Slingerland drums (I think). Rehearsal Space: Button auditorium or Baird Music Hall on the Morhead Campus. Band Vehicles: Individual cars, VW Beetle, 1953 Plymouth convertible. Fashion Statement: We all dressed the same....some gigs we changed three times. Best Gig: All the gigs were great fun! Gig from Hell!: None listed. Last Gig: Probably a college sock-hop after a game. Comments: We sure had a fine time playing that music of the 60's...the kids liked us too. I am now 63...still play guitar and recently the harmonica....I'm looking for somebody that can play the blues without it sounding like acid rock !        Where are they now? Winter, 2004 Butch still lives in Sharpsburg, KY. I still live in Paris, KY...that's me back there with the Byrdland.
