My First
Band
Did you have a garage band back in
the 60's between 1964 and 1970? With the advent of the
British invasion, it seemed like there was a rock and roll
band on every block in those days. Tons of kids were buying
guitars, amps, and drum kits, loading up old beat up vans or
their parents station wagons and heading out to local
parties, teen clubs and dances all across America. They were
crankin' up their amplifiers and those Fender and Gibson
guitars (or how 'bout a Danelectro thru a Sears Silvertone
amp?) seeking fame and fortune. They were playing songs by
groups like the Ventures, Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, Beatles,
Animals, Byrds, Kinks, Rolling Stones, Moby Grape, and of
course, The Electric Prunes, Iron Butterfly and the whole
psychedelic thing. While hanging out one
evening playing guitars and old songs from the
60's, Dan and Keith were talking about their old
garage band Clear Blue Sky, and
wondering about all the other rock bands from their
neighborhood in northwest Detroit back in the mid
to late psychedelic 60's. What ever happened to all
those rock and roll wannabe's? Who's still playing
music, how many hung it up after high school or
college? What are these baby boomer musicians up to
now?
Musicians Keith Buckley and Dan Angott are looking for those
kids, all grown up now and possibly enduring their own kid's
(or grand kid's) band practice sessions in the garage or
basement, to contribute to their web site:

One thing led to another and they decided to put
together a web site to reach out to all those garage band
members not only from Detroit, but all across America who
like them, never made it much past the state
line.
"One chord is fine.
Two chords is pushing it.
Three chords and you're into jazz."
- Lou Reed
